The Manu Samoa 7s rugby team’s path to the Olympics is an historic one – marking the first time Samoa has competed in rugby 7s at the Olympic games. In France ahead of the games, the team have already proudly showcased their Samoan culture. We love welcoming visiting choirs to the Minster, who sing for services whilst the Choir of York Minster are on breaks. This morning we welcomed a choir with a difference - The Samoa national rugby league team, known as The Toa Samoa (Samoan Warriors). The team attended Choral Matins, sung by the Choir of All Saints' Church, Kingston and then decided to treat us to a hymn of their own. | York Minster

Christmas has come early for Manu Samoa with the team celebrating their World Rugby Sevens Series victory in Cape Town. Samoa upset defending champions New Zealand by 12 - 7 in a rainy final on Sunday, where Vaa Apelu Maliko took out the Player of the Final award.
