The Mahayuti alliance will form a new government in Maharashtra on December 5. Devendra Fadnavis is the frontrunner for the chief minister post. The BJP emerged as the largest party in recent assembly polls.

A key Mahayuti meeting scheduled on Friday was put off and likely to take place on Sunday now as caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde headed to his native village in Satara district, delaying government formation further.

Amid ongoing suspense over the chief ministerial candidate, the new government of Maharashtra’s Mahayuti alliance is set to be formed on December 5, a senior BJP leader said. The leader indicated that Devendra Fadnavis is the frontrunner for the chief minister’s post,

However, despite the election results being announced on November 23, no official decision has been made regarding the chief minister.
