An Israeli strike smashed into a building in the southern suburbs of Beirut causing a huge explosion after a warning was issued by the Israeli military on X. The strike comes as cease-fire negotiations continue between Israel and Lebanon.

Israeli warplanes struck central Beirut and the city’s southern suburbs on Tuesday, raising smoke over the Lebanese capital ahead of a planned vote by Israel’s leadership on whether to accept a U.S.-brokered ceasefire aimed at ending more than a year of fighting with Hezbollah militants.

The U.N. Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 1701 in August 2006 as part of a cease-fire that ended Israel’s last war with Lebanon. The resolution sought to create a buffer zone in southern Lebanon to prevent fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, but has failed to keep the peace.

Some of Israel's strikes on central Beirut came after Netanyahu had announced a ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanon.

Footage showed the strikes hit the multi-storey building, which topped in a cloud of smoke as civilians watched the high rise turn to dust.

The death toll from an Israeli strike on a densely populated area in central Beirut on Saturday has reached 29, Lebanon's Health Ministry said on Sunday. Another 67 people were injured, the ministry said,
