One state has crowned its official Queen Of Christmas. According to News Channel 5 on December 2, elected officials in Tennessee declared Brenda Lee’s record “ Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree ” the state’s official holiday song.

The Nashville singer-songwriter received the signed proclamation at the ceremony in Nashville, forever tying her 1958 song to her long-time home state.

On Monday, Tennessee leaders honored a woman — who may not exactly tower over anybody — but she casts a long shadow in the world of country music.

Chances are you've heard the classic song "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree," but chances are you didn't know the woman behind the song is a Nashville native.Brenda Lee was just 13 when she recorded the Christmas classic in 1958 which was recorded on Music Row at Quonset Hut Studio.

Democratic Rep. Jason Powell filed the bill around a year ago, and Governor Bill Lee signed it in April to make the Brenda Lee classic the state's holiday song.

The song, which Brenda Lee recorded in Nashville when she was just 13 years old, is now the official holiday song of Tennessee.
