The governor of Pennsylvania has signed a disaster emergency declaration and reported that parts of Erie County in the northwest have received nearly a meter of snow, with more expected to fall until Monday night.

Near Buffalo, between 10 and 20 inches of lake effect snow is expected by the end of Sunday, according to the Weather Service. The southern part of Erie County, along with Wyoming, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties, are predicted to see 2 to 4 feet of snow by Monday night.

The first significant round of lake effect snow this season is forcing state officials to implement some travel restrictions on some major roadways in Western New York this weekend. Read more from WBE
