An earthquake reportedly occurred in Malibu, west of Los Angeles, at 2:15 p.m. local time Friday measuring a preliminary magnitude of 3.5.

The quake was reported north of Malibu around 2:15 p.m. with a depth of 9.6 km, according to the USGS. The magnitude was first recorded at 3.5, but about an hour later it was upgraded to a 3.8 magnitude.

A preliminary 3.5-magnitude earthquake was reported near Malibu at 2:15 p.m. PST Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter was about 4.6 miles north of Point Dume, in the mountains above Malibu's city limits. It's the seventh earthquake so far this year to rumble in this area.
