Maharashtra Government Formation Live News Updates: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde submitted his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan. Shinde will be the caretaker CM till the new leader for the post is sworn in.

Eknath Shinde on Tuesday resigned as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Shinde arrived at the Raj Bhavan to meet Governor CP Radhakrishnan at around 11 am. Shinde has been asked to serve as the caretaker CM of the state for the time being.

The Mahayuti alliance consisting BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP emerged victorious in the Maharashtra assembly elections.

Eknath Shinde, in a late night post, hinted towards stepping down as the present Chief Minister of the state. He also asked his supporters not to gather at Varsha Niwas or anywhere else to press the ruling Mahayuti alliance for his return to the chair.

Despite the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance securing a massive victory, consensus has eluded the ruling combine's leaders so far on who should be the next CM.
