Shiv Sena MP Srikant Shinde, the son of Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, on Monday said the speculations about him getting the deputy CM’s post in the new state government were false and baseless.

According to reports, Shinde was scheduled to attend a Mahayuti leaders meeting to finalise portfolio allocations. He is suffering from a throat infection and fever and did not return to his official residence, Varsha, in Mumbai. Shinde is currently staying in his native village in Satara.

After more than a week of suspense and speculations, the Mahayuti government may finally announce its choice for Chief Minister today following a massive victory in the Maharashtra assembly elections by the BJP-led alliance parties.

The announcement will be made ahead of the oath ceremony.” The Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) on Sunday named MLA Jitendra Awhad as its group leader in the Maharashtra legislative assembly.
