New Jersey-based Ascend Laboratories has voluntarily recalled 141,984 bottles of atorvastatin calcium, a cholesterol-lowering drug because some of the tablets may not dissolve properly, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. COCA-COLA RECALL: Select Coca-Cola, Sprite and Coke Zero cans recalled in Texas over possible metal risk The recall covers atorvastatin calcium tablets in 90-, 500- and 1,000-count bottles manufactured by Alkem Laboratories in India and distributed by Ascend Laboratories. On Oct. 10, the FDA classified the action as a Class II recall, meaning "the use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote," according to the agency.
