Multiple wildfires, including the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire, are raging across Southern California Friday, leaving at least 11 dead and burning more than 10,000 homes across 27,000 acres, officials say.

Local firefighters were sent to Los Angeles County to battle the Eaton Fire this week. The fire burned over 14,000 acres of land, destroyed 972 structures, injured five and killed five people since it began on Tuesday, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

In Southern California, the death toll is rising and the flames are still spreading. "The new fire shows that we are absolutely not out of this extreme weather event," LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley said.
