The Bay Area is getting a break after the heavy rainfall on Friday, but the amount of rain that fell means some areas remain at risk of minor flooding.

The NWS San Francisco CA issued a flood watch at 5:42 a.m. on Wednesday in effect until Saturday at 4 a.m. The watch is for Marin Coastal Range, Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay Interior Mountains, Coastal North Bay Including Point Reyes National Seashore and North Bay Interior Valleys.

The National Weather Service on Friday issued several flash flood warnings in parts of the Bay Area as heavy rain saturated the region.

San Francisco’s flood warning is in effect until 6:45 p.m., the National Weather Service said in a social media post.

Rain fell again in the Bay Area on Monday, following a mostly dry Sunday that came after the most powerful storm of 2024. Yet, it seemed to fall with considerably less force. “It’s a light rain,” National Weather Service meteorologist Rick Kaplan said.

Friday was the wettest day of the 2024 in many areas, including San Francisco, which received 2.97 inches of rain — or 13% of its annual yearly rainfall in one day — and Oakland, which received 2.46 inches in one day.

The Bay Area had a chance to dry off a bit this weekend after the past few days' deluge. After some high rain totals, some communities are cleaning up flooding, and others are preparing for the next wave of the storm.
