PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti drew comparisons between the treatment of Hindus in Bangladesh and minorities in India, sparking criticism from the BJP. Mufti expressed concerns about the alleged oppression of Hindus in Bangladesh and criticized recent surveys of mosques in India.

Mufti accused the government of promoting division and targeting minorities, claiming that such actions could lead the country back to conditions reminiscent of the partition era.

The PDP chief said that if Bangladesh committed atrocities against its minorities, and if India did the same, how could India be different from Bangladesh?

The remark drew considerable flak with J&K BJP leaders accusing her of making "anti-national" remarks by comparing the situation in Bangladesh to India.

"Today, I am afraid that the situation which was during 1947, we are being taken towards that direction. When the youth talk of jobs, they don't get it. We don't have good hospitals, education...They are not improving the condition of roads but are trying to demolish the mosque in search of a temple.
