As federal agents continue to carry out immigration enforcement operations in Southern California, those arrested are entering a court system with a heavy backlog. The detainees going to immigration court to hear their cases that used to take a year to resolve are now taking three to five years,

ICE arrests in Colorado this year amount to more than 9 per day, on average, since Jan. 20, according to new data that shows a nearly 300% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

The union said the judges were working in courts in 10 different states across the country — California, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Texas, Utah and Virginia.
