The Minnesota Timberwolves extended their winning streak to four games with a 121-113 road victory over the Phoenix Suns. It ended up being a wild Wednesday night that included Wolves coach Chris Finch being ejected from the game in the third quarter after receiving his second technical foul.
In a heated game between the Timberwolves and Suns, Wolves coach Chris Finch was ejected after receiving his second technical foul. Finch's outburst came as a shock, but Anthony Edwards intervened to calm the situation.
The Wolves were without three players from the regular rotation but turned to Rob Dillingham, Luka Garza and Jaylen Clark for help. Anthony Edwards' 36 points helped, too.
Minnesota coach Chris Finch didn't see the end of his team's game in Phoenix on Wednesday night, but he certainly had to like what transpired after he was ejected.
At issue was a brutal second half in which the Timberwolves were outscored 49-40 by the zombie Hawks, who were missing Trae Young, Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels and Bogdan Bogdanović. The Wolves still needed to play Rudy Gobert 38 minutes, Anthony Edwards 35 and Mike Conley 31 to ensure they finished off the Hawks.
The coach “woke up choosing violence,” went at the players harshly during a film session and didn’t cool before he got tossed.
Finch does not believe there's any urgency from the Wolves front office to make a move before the Feb. 6 deadline.
The 23-year-old was all over the floor on both ends, delivering a masterful performance in a high-intensity, high-stakes bout.
