In the run-up to Major League Baseball’s Tokyo Series next month, Complex has commissioned Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami to create a limited edition of merchandise and collectibles.

"This is something I am overwhelmed with gratitude to be a part of," the artist said of the new collection, which will be available on Complex Shop.

The new collection includes t-shirts and sweatshirts adorned with Murakami’s signature style, along with hats, baseballs and gloves.

Just as Topps and Fanatics pursued broader cultural appeal beyond the sports landscape in the U.S. last year with apparel and a baseball card set in collaboration with rapper Travis Scott, this new effort with Murakami seems to be a Japan-focused twist on the same concept.
