Gov. Mike DeWine announced Friday that a nine-person fire management team from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has been dispatched to assist firefighters battling destructive wildfires in California.
They analyzed how population changed between 2018 and 2023. Dublin, a suburb northwest of Columbus, ranked 15th on the list. Its population grew by 7.6% from 2018 to 2023, according to the analysis.
Nine firefighters from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry will spend 14 days in Southern California.
COLUMBUS — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced that a fire management crew has been dispatched to California to help battle the devastating wildfires. The nine-person fire management team from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) left Columbus and is headed to Beaumont, California.
The crew is expected to begin work Monday. California fire managers requested their help for 14 days. A typical daily shift lasts between 14 to 16 hours. “Our fire management crews train year-round to be prepared to step up when called upon,” ODNR Director Mary Mertz said in the statement.
