Saudi Arabia is of key diplomatic importance to the Trump White House, especially amid ongoing tension in the Middle East and the Israel-Hamas war.

President Trump goes to the Gulf kingdom this week seeking $1 trillion worth of investments in the United States — a sum equivalent to the entire Saudi gross domestic product for a year.

Back in January, Prince Mohammed said that Saudi Arabia would invest $600bn (£450bn) in the US over the next years. However, Trump has already said that he'd like that to rise to $1tn, including purchases of more US military equipment.
