The families of Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy — teenagers who were tortured and killed by Paul Bernardo in the 1990s — pleaded with the parole board this morning to keep Bernardo locked away.

Family members of two teenage girls who were tortured and murdered by Paul Bernardo are asking the Parole Board of Canada to keep the notorious killer behind bars in their emotional victim impact statements.

The parole officer said Bernardo’s first choice is to be released to the Curé Labelle halfway house in St-Jérôme and that his second choice would be one in Montreal. The parole officer also said CSC does not recommend that Bernardo have permission to take part in escorted or unescorted leaves.
