Columbus Crew put themselves in a goal-less hole going into the second leg of the round of 16 series vs LAFC in Champions Cup.

MLS entered 10 teams -- the maximum -- in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup. Seven survived the first round, but it is already down to just four teams still alive after three were eliminated on Tuesday

After nearly pulling off a comeback in the second leg of the two-game, round-of-16 series against Los Angeles FC, the Crew were eliminated 4-2 on aggregate (overall goals within series).

As the game hit its dramatic finale, Columbus Crew pushed everyone forward in a bid for an aggregate equalizer. That's when the dagger was thrust. Cengiz Ünder took advantage of a turnover in midfield and created a chance for Denis Bouanga, who ran behind the defense and finished with clinical accuracy, booking LAFC's place in the quarterfinals.

LAFC has lost three straight showdowns with the Crew, including a pair of title games, going into the opener of their two-leg Round of 16 matchup on Tuesday night at BMO Stadium.
