Supporters of imprisoned Pakistani former premier Imran Khan have breached a lockdown in the capital Islamabad to demand his release.

According to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, hundreds of Imran Khan’s followers had been arrested across the country from multiple cities in the protests and skirmishes.

Supporters of the ex-prime minister marched toward Islamabad, the capital. Clashes with the police left at least one officer dead, the authorities said.
