A geomagnetic storm caused the northern lights to become visible in parts of the country.

A surprisingly powerful northern lights display dazzled much of the northern hemisphere on Tuesday, reaching points as far south as Florida in the United States and Austria in Europe.

"The colours and rays were visible to the naked eye, it's one of the strongest displays I've seen this far south," he said.
