Olympic champions Sifan Hassan and Letsile Tebogo have been announced as World Athletes of the Year at the World Athletics Awards 2024 in Monaco

Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands and Letsile Tebogo of Botswana were named World Athletics Athlete of the Year award winners for 2024. Hassan won marathon gold and 5000m and 10,000m bronze at the Paris Games.

Holland’s Sifan Hassan and Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo made history as they were crowned the World Athletics Athletes of the Year for 2024.

The runners claimed their accolades at the 2024 World Athletics Awards, where Tamirat Tola, winner of the men’s Olympic marathon in Paris, also received honours

Olympic champions Letsile Tebogo and Sifan Hassan were named male and female athlete of the year at the World Athletics Awards in Monaco. Tebogo, who was also named male track athlete of the year, became Botswana's first Olympic champion in Paris when he won the 200m in an African record time of 19.46 seconds.

The Netherlands' Sifan Hassan and Botswana's Letsile Tebogo were named World Athletes of the Year on Sunday (December 1) after scooping multiple medals at the Paris Olympics.
