The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory at 2:55 a.m. on Saturday valid from 7 p.m. until Sunday 1 p.m. for Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket counties.

Meteorologists are forecasting a series of snow storms, including 2 to 3 inches of snow in the Boston-area on Thursday before a chance for more than 6 inches this weekend.

The snow will arrive Saturday between 10 p.m. and midnight. Once it arrives, it will hit the ground running. The majority of the snow accumulation will occur between midnight and 7 a.m. on Sunday. There will be some light snow and flurries between 7 a.m. and noon but very little additional accumulation.
