Olympic marathon champion Sifan Hassan voted Athlete of the Year
Olympic marathon champion Sifan Hassan has become the first Dutch sportswoman to be named World Athlete of the Year at a ceremony held by the sport’s governing body. Hassan, 31, won a fans’ poll after taking the gold medal on the streets of Paris to clime her third Olympic title and sixth medal.

African sprinter lands World Athlete of the Year award
Tebogo was confirmed as men’s track athlete of the year, with Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone receiving the women’s honour. Hassan claimed the women’s out of stadium crown and Tamirat Tola the men’s, while Mondo Duplantis and Yaroslava Mahuchikh were named field athletes of the year.
