The San Carlos City Council voted unanimously on Monday evening to pass a resolution of “no confidence” in embattled San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus, a move that follows the release of a scathing 400-plus page independent audit that details allegations of corruption and misconduct, fueling growing calls for her resignation.

Despite turmoil and many calls for her resignation, San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus has no plans of stepping down. She doubled-down on Tuesday with a letter to her staff.

When Christina Corpus won voters’ support to become San Mateo County’s first Latina sheriff, she vowed to end the “pass-downs and political favors” she said dictated control of the department and carry out a reform agenda to “move our law enforcement agency to the 21st century.”
