A high school football player from Massachusetts is in the hospital with a “traumatic” brain injury that he suffered during a game on Thanksgiving, according to our sister station Boston 25 News.

Community members and residents in Sharon are rallying after a high school football player suffered a “traumatic brain injury” during the town’s annual Thanksgiving game against Oliver Ames.

Rohan Shukla sustained a “traumatic brain injury” during the game and was sent to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton and then to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, according to a Sharon Police Department Facebook post. The game ended as his trainer, coaches and emergency personnel responded to the incident.

The letter, from Sharon Public Schools Superintendent Peter J. Botelho and SHS Principal Kristen Keenan, said student Rohan Shukla experienced a “traumatic brain injury” during the game. Shukla, a sophomore, was injured during play and collapsed on the sidelines, the letter said.
