Pakistan is slated to host the ICC Champions Trophy next year, but India's reluctance to participate has created significant challenges.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reportedly want a written guarantee from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), ensuring a hybrid model for the next four ICC events in India.

The last time Pakistan hosted an ICC event was in the year of 1996. The Asia Cup, held in the country last year, was also conducted in a hybrid model, with all of India’s games taking place in Sri Lanka.

The Pakistan Cricket Board would ask for an added incentive apart from the hosting fee, which is around $65 million.

There has been a lot of conversations surrounding the Champions Trophy 2025 with India refusing to travel to Pakistan over security concerns.

While the PCB had initially been adamant about the entire Champions Trophy taking place in Pakistan in the months of February and March next year, it reportedly accepted the hybrid model over the weekend following the ICC’s emergency board meeting.
