The National Weather Service issued an updated winter storm warning at 3:55 p.m. EST on Friday in effect until Sunday at 7 a.m. EST for Leelanau, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Manistee and Wexford counties.

A winter storm could bring more than a foot of snow to parts of northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, according to the National Weather Service. Gaylord is expected to get 13-18 inches of snow. Other predictions include 13-21 inches in Mancelona, 5-11 inches in Boyne City and 5-9 inches in Petoskey.

The region is under a winter storm warning until 7 p.m. Sunday. High end potential snowfall includes accumulations up to 20-30 inches in Grand Marais and Munising, according to the National Weather Service.
