A former county treasurer pleaded guilty on Thursday to charges of embezzlement, money laundering and tax evasion after stealing more than $38 million in county funds to renovate her ranches, buy 20 cars and pay for personal expenses.

Gaetz spent his first weekend after a failed bid to become President-elect Donald Trump's pick for U.S. Attorney General making videos for $500 each on Cameo and responding to supporters on his X account, the social media website formerly known as Twitter.

If he does succeed DeSantis — a one-time Trump protége — the president-elect will secure yet another a valuable ally in Florida.

Trump also threw his endorsement behind state Sen. Randy Fine, R-Brevard County, as a replacement for former U.S. Rep. Mike Waltz. Trump tapped Waltz to serve as national security advisor. Waltz submitted his resignation from Congressional District 6 on Monday, according to Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd.

Michelle Salzman withdrew from the race just hours before she would've had to resign her seat in the Florida Legislature.
