According to AAA, as travelers prepared for the Thanksgiving holiday, the average price of gasoline was $3.13 per gallon on Thanksgiving Day, which is 10 cents more than last year's holiday rates. However, it is still 30 cents lower than the prices seen on Thanksgiving Day in 2022.

In order to avoid any of these consequences, AAA’s Mark Jenkins is advising Floridians to find a designated sober driver this weekend, or to call AAA’s Tow to Go. When you call Tow to Go, AAA deploys a tow truck to pick you and your car up and drop you both off at a safe point within a 10-mile radius of the initial call.

Florida gas prices averaged $3.11 per gallon on Dec. 1, a cent less than the week before, according to data from AAA. The average price for gas on Thanksgiving Day in Florida was $3.13 per gallon, 10 cents more than what holiday travelers paid a year ago.

AAA put the highest prices for gas in South Florida. Costs for a gallon of gas in Palm Beach County and Monroe County, which includes the Florida Keys, were $3.28 on Sunday with Miami-Dade at $3.16. The average cost of diesel in the state was $3.49, which is the same as a week ago but 51 cents lower than a year ago.

Unlike many waistlines, gas prices in Florida decreased after Thanksgiving, according to AAA — The Auto Club Group. The average price for a gallon of gas in the Sunshine State was $3.09 to start this work week, down from $3.11 on Sunday.

AAA projects that 4.5 million Floridians will travel over 50 miles for Thanksgiving, and the vast majority of travelers will be driving.
