Mexico and Canada are the United States’ top two trading partners, accounting for nearly 30% of trade volumes.

China is no longer the main source for U.S. imports. Mexico took its place last year.That seismic shift started in 2018 after President Trump signed into law a round of tariffs on many Chinese imports during his first term.

The president-elect said that he would impose the across-the-board tariffs on Day 1 and that they would stay in place until the three countries halted the flow of drugs and migrants.
