Ahead of Monday's start to the Maui Invitational, ESPN and the Maui Invitational honored the late Bill Walton who was a "national treasure" at past events.

The late Bill Walton received a nice tribute from those running the Maui Invitational. Walton died in May at the age of 71 following a battle with cancer.

ESPN posted a humorous tribute video to the late Bill Walton ahead of the Maui Invitational’s tip-off Monday, showing some of his colorful adventures at past tournaments. Let’s just say the network had plenty of material to work with for the video.

Walton was known for his big personality on the sideline while he was an announcer. He famously sported tie-dye shirts, and frequently donned Hawaiian shirts during the Maui Invitational. The tournament found the perfect way to honor Walton at this week's event—two tie-dyed Hawaiian shirts were draped over an announcer's chair with a lei and a shirt that said "Walton" on top.
