Asian shares are mostly higher after stocks fell on Wall Street as the Trump administration stepped up pressure on trading partners to make deals before punishing tariffs imposed by the U.S. take effe

Asian shares edged higher as President Donald Trump left the door open for additional negotiations after imposing new tariff rates on partners including Japan and South Korea.

Asia markets are higher, with the Nikkei 225 up 0.3% after President Trump sent 25% tariff letters to US trading partners including Japan and South Korea. The Hang Seng index also rose 0.7%, in contrast to yesterday’s session on Wall Street after the S&P 500 index fell 0.8% from Thursday’s record high.
